Testimonials
Having worked with Toi for many years, I can say with confidence that she is someone who brings great passion, dedication, experience and knowledge to her racial equity work. As a woman of color and an immigrant, her work is reflective of both her own life experience and the experiences of other people of color she has worked to support over the years. Toi is an excellent trainer, a creative problem solver and a strong mentor to others who has helped many organizations and individuals address institutional racism and its many manifestations.

Toi’s facilitation style reflects both her knowledge of racial equity work and her ability to create space for honest, brave conversations. She holds both the inner work and outer work needed in this field to the same standard and encourages people to wrestle with multiple truths at the same time. She does not compromise the work to assuage certain individuals who may be at a different point of the journey, but she does create avenues to learning that are accessible to anyone who brings their genuine self to this work.
Colin Stonecipher, Childhaven

Toi is a very interactive facilitator that engages her audience fully and honestly. She encourages the flow of ideas and is flexible on how the conversations/topics move even during difficult moments.

Toi’s facilitation style demonstrates her abilities to hold courageous spaces for individuals who are struggling to understand and create new languages and narratives to deepen their racial equity work.

One of the most informative, real, and honest trainings on racial equity the organization had in the last ten years. Somehow, the race-based conversations need to continue in our different locations.”

Toi conducted two rich and productive trainings for our staff focused on individual and institutional racism. I was especially struck by her encouragement of our staff as co-facilitators, and the way in which the training unfolded—starting with the personal and building up to an incisive and multi-faceted look at our agency. Toi created a warm and welcoming space for personal reflection, dialogue and critical thinking, inspiring us to do better and be better. Best of all, we will be able to use the insights Toi elicited to create tangible, lasting change. We greatly value Toi’s expertise as we continue our ongoing process of becoming a more equitable and inclusive organization!

I have learned so much in our brief time working together, treasure it, and am taking it with me as part of my deepened lens.
That Tuesday night, I facilitated the topic “why does abuse happen?” in support group and we broke down racism and sexism on a structural/institutional/cultural and individual level! I incorporated many of the components into looking at our society, ourselves, and what’s missing in the mentality of folks who abuse.

"I want the opportunity to express my gratitude to you for your tremendous work with the Co-op. For me personally, your insights, quick mind, presentation of facts, uncanny skill, courage, and passion made a tremendous impact on me. It opened me wide up and twisted my heart. It rocked my boat. I cried. I sought and am seeking the changes in me, I want in the world."
